Couch

The summer after graduation I lived with family friends in the south of France in Port Grimaud, where they had their beach house overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. They had a linen couch set almost on the balcony that faced the sunset but I couldn’t sit in it without getting congested and itchy eyed. I told them I had the same reaction with cat fur but they did not have pets and then they told me that the couch had come with the house, it had belonged to the previous owner, Bridget Bardot.
