I went to visit my friend at art school in Lacoste in September. The train ride was sitting backwards on the TGV. I met my friend in Avignon, which is apparently a university town. We wandered around for a few hours. I bought a box of dominoes. We hitch-hiked because my friend didn’t want to spend money. A ride dropped us off at Lumiere, which is an hour from Avignon. We had to walk another hour to Lacoste, which was in the hills. A farmer hauling carrots let us ride on the back of his trailer for a short distance. When we got to Lacoste it was dark, and we stood in front of the Cafe de France. It was too dark to see the ruined chateau of the Marquis de Sade on the peak above the village.
